Martha Heeren – Mary Magdalene and Feminine Energy
In this presentation Martha Heeren, a retired educator and senior librarian who has travelled extensively to sacred places, will speak on the questions surrounding the enigmatic figure of Mary Magdalene who challenges ideas about spirituality and the role of women in religion. There is not one story about Mary Magdalene and exploring information about this important historical figure can be very fascinating. She was the first to see the resurrected Jesus and is often mentioned in the Bible. Looking at Mary Magdalene also relates to Feminine Energy itself and how we perceive that energy in our lives and into the future. The Catholic Church had labelled Mary Magdalene as a prostitute until 1969 but she was most definitely a woman who was much more than that label. Was there a marriage between Jesus and Mary with children and a bloodline? Was she a peasant or a wealthy woman? Where did she come from? Was there an Egyptian link?
